We shouldn’t wait for Nurses Week to say “mahalo” for all you do, nurses!

But we figured it would be a good week to present this Moana-inspired tribute to all of y’all working those trenches on the daily. And CNAs, we’re looking at you too!

A very special “thank you” to cardiac nurse Erin O’Shaughnessy from Australia who inspired us to get the rap section just right.

Say thanks to your favorite nurse crew by sharing STAT! Want a special gift to thank a nurse for being awesome? Check the Health 3.0 shop (net proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders).

And MAD LOVE to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, the ONLY hospital in Vegas awesome enough to let us shoot there. They love nurses, and they show it.

And make sure to share YOUR voice on our livecast, “Can Nursing Be Saved?”

Okay, okay, I see what’s happening here

You’re face-to-face with greatness and it’s strange

Your pain scale is 10 while asleep

It’s adorable

Well, it’s nice to see that patients never change
The IV is in, let’s begin

Yes it’s really me, it’s your nurse, breathe it in

I know it’s a lot: the scrubs, the crocs

When you’re staring at this lovenox
What can I say except “you’re welcome”?

For the ice chips, the meds, the food

Hey, it’s okay, it’s okay

You’re welcome

Cuz that intern really doesn’t have a clue

(he was gonna kill you)
Hey

What has two gloves and shoved in a cath

When your prostate was all jacked?

This gal!

When the ward got cold

who stole you blankets and pillows?

You’re looking at her, yo!

Oh, also I titrate the drip

You’re welcome

To stop V-tach and slow A-fib

Also, I harnessed the tools

Your Hoyer!

To lift your butt and help you poo
So what can I say except you’re welcome

For that decub that you never got

Call lights all day, oh hey

You’re Welcome

When we’re catchin’ stuff that no one else has caught

You’re welcome

You’re welcome
Well, come to think of it

Doc, honestly these shifts go on and on

Med surg to ED, NICU, PACU and beyond

That time early sepsis was found? Oh,

That was your nurse just messing around.

We chart all day

To cover our butts

Calm in the codes when the doctors go nuts

What’s the lesson

What is the take-away

Don’t mess with nurses when they’re on their break today!

And the wrinkles you see on my skin

Show the losses and map every win

Look in my heart

It’s all caring compassion

Look at these clickity boxes just tippity-tap tap tap tap ha ha ha ha ha hey

Well anyway let me say you’re welcome

For the caring and brains that we show

Hey CEO CEO

You’re welcome!

But these jacked up staffing ratios gotta go!

Doctors they say, oh hey you’re welcome

But it’s nurses that run this show

You can never take me away

You’re welcome.

Cause this nurse can do anything but float!

You’re welcome

I loved this. I strive daily to maintain my empathy. I catch myself more and more worrting more about charting, then being able to focus and care for my pt’s…stuggling to balance actual pt. care, and click all the areas and boxes that a “must”. 15 years of nursing…I miss paper charting days.
